I wanted to explore a more conceptual way of referencing one of Britain\u2019s favourite birds. In some folklore, when a robin appears it is often associated with a symbolic visit from a lost loved one. In the last few months of drawing birds in Lockdown I\u2019ve heard many anecdotes that confirm the comfort and solace the robin can bring. With this design I wanted to reference these anecdotes and acknowledge the rich symbolism and beauty of the feather in general. From the feather being evidence of a comforting bird visitation to the belief that guardian angels leave feathers to show they\u2019ve come to us in times of crisis. I think of this as a paired-back \u2018minimalist\u2019 Christmas \u2018jumper\u2019 design, that invites the wearer to share their stories of comfort, that robins and birds in general can bring and unlike the kitsch Christmas jumper, can be worn all year round.","metaTitle":"","metaDescription":"Christmas is renowned for \u2018cute\u2019 depictions of the European robin.
