As a child I was obsessed with birds<\/strong>, (that's me above\/centre as a child) I drew them constantly and studied bird books and illustrations all the time. When it came to writing my book in 2017, I used this obsession to inform the character of Pansy Boy<\/a>. When I illustrated my first book I reawakened my adoration of bird drawing and detailed depictions of the birds I love fill the pages.<\/p>

Birds Can Fly was developed during the first Lockdown of 2020. I began drawing birds everyday for my social media followers, as demand for prints grew, the project evolved and now includes this clothing brand. Every Tee or Jumper is designed with my childhood self in mind, I hope my clothing encourages and inspires 'future ornithologists'. I imagine the joy I would have felt proudly wearing my favourite bird on my chest. As Birds Can Fly continues to reach more children, I'm filled with such joy that I am able to contribute to the visual landscape of a child. With Birds Can Fly I have a sense of reaching through time, my ornithological nostalgia inspires each drawing and garment. The Story of BEEP BEEP...<\/h3>

An early highlight of Birds Can Fly was hearing about the way birds comforted us through the pandemic. One of my favourites is the following: \u201cAnna\u2019s Hummingbirds are common here in Southern California, and my 5 year old son Eli has named one that visits our garden \u201cBeep Beep\u201d, it would be really special to our family if you could include an Anna\u2019s Hummingbird in your bird collection\u201d. - I simply had to draw this beautiful jewel of a bird. Once complete I sent a digital thank you card to Eli with Anna\u2019s Hummingbird renamed \u201cBeep Beep\u201d on it. Throughout the pandemic Birds Can Fly and Pansy Boy has reached hundreds of like-minded young people via the Self Isolating Bird Club<\/a>, the silly fun of my 'gentle references', my competitions and the Pansy Boy workshops I've hosted online.
